Henry had his first job interview today. Although willing naman yung host nya to drive him around the city, he took the bus to know his way around. Nakauwi naman sya in one piece.
The position he applied for is something he would never consider here in the Philippines. But what the heck. It's NZ! When we started our migration plans, we expected that our jobs will be downgraded. This way, he won't get frustrated just esily. Kahit anong trabaho muna sa una, saka na lang yung job na talagang gusto nya.
His interviewer said he overqualified for the position but would still consider him. If they hire him, he'll start on Wednesday next week. I advised him to look for other oppurtunities before saying accepting any job. Malay mo, meron pang mas maganda pa syang makita.

Nung umalis ba si Henry hinanapan ba sya ng POEA clearance sa NAIA? What docs did he present, if ever?

depende sa inaaplayan nyang position, sometimes, it helps if he doesn't declare everything in his cv his qualifications or other job experiences. the most important thing is he get hired, and get that bloody nz experience, which most employers are after. once hired, say after 6 months, dun na lang sya mag try maghanap ng iba. kung malayo ang qualifications nya sa papasukang trabaho at kung marami naman syang "bala" na baon, maybe he can try to look around for other jobs pa. if not, then grab the opportunity. other migrants here end up looking for job for months coz they're fuzzy with the kind of job they're after.

good luck kay henry. nga pala may get together kami ng mga Pinoys2nZ na andito sa AKl sa 25April. baka gustong mag-attend ni Henry, sabay na lang siya sa amin. dami naman siyang kapitbahay sa Northshore. sunduin pa namin siya if he wants.

Machine operator yung position na inapplyan ni Henry for his first job interview. Feeling ko mabo-bore sya don. Kahit sana sa maintenance, kahit technician o fitter lang. Anyway, may ilang job interviews na naka-lineup sa kanya ngayon. Mas related na sa linya nya.
