Maraming kiwi words ang kakaiba para sa ating mga pinoy. 7 months na ako dito pero madalas pa rin akong nako-confuse. Ito mga examples ng mga terminology nila:
dub.dub.dub = www (as in world wide web)
sellotape = scotch tape
rates = property tax
jandals = sandals
togs = swimming trunks
tap = gripo
bus shelter = waiting shed
bonnet+boot = car hood and trunk
lolly = candy
motorway = expressway
sausage = hotdog
re-imaged pc = re-formatted pc
to let = medyo tunog "toilet" but this actually means "for rent"
roundabout = rotonda
bikkie = biskwit
trolley = grocery cart
scooter = what is trolley to pinoys; two-wheeled toy operated by foot
trainers = running shoes
panelbeater = latero ng mga tsikot
bricklayer (a.k.a. brickie) = kantero
manilla = paper folder (not sure how this is related to our Manila)
Sampol pa lang yan. Pag nahaluan pa yan ng kiwi accent, naku nakakalokang talaga.
