Kiwiana lunch

3rd anniversary ng opismeyt kong Scottish dito sa NZ. To celebrate, nagkaron kami ng kiwiana lunch. Kanya-kanya kami ng dala ng pagkaing unique or common to kiwis. Ito ang ilan sa mga handa:

  • L&P (softdrink)
  • meat pie
  • sausage roll
  • cheese
  • brandy snaps
  • veggie salad with avocado – ang alam ko lang sa avocado ay yung may gatas at asukal
  • Jaffa – orange coated chocolate balls na gawa Cadbury
  • Pineapple lump
  • chocolate fish – a fish-shaped marshmallow covered with chocolate
  • pavlova – parang sansrival; origin is claimed by both NZ and Australia
  • lamington – a sponge cake; the kiwis and aussies also dispute on this as well
  • Vegemite
  • whitebait fritters
  • asparagus roll – sandwhich nyo ay may palamang steamed asparagus
  • Cheerios – sausage lang to na kulay purple, no big deal, but kiwis cook by boiling in water

That was really a good experience. Imagine, I tasted so many new foods in one sitting. Yung unang 4 lang ang natikman ko na dati. Except for the pineapple lump and vegemite, masarap naman yung mga pagkain (hindi nga lang masyadong exciting). Pag may nag-imbita sa akin na kiwi, din a ako mahihirapang mag-isip ng dadalhin.

Nga pala, yung salad ang bitbit ko (binili ko lang). Kiwi fruit ang unang pumasok sa isip ko pero naalala ko na china nga pala ang origin nito. In fact, it’s also called chinese gooseberry.

Sa pangalan pa lang mukhang di ko na magugustuhan. Anyway, sinubukan ko pa din. True enough, di type. how about you, type mo ba ang lasa non?
